A goods lift is specified from the load, not the floor count — what goes in the car sets the capacity, car size, door width and floor construction.
Two decisions shape it: whether people ride with the load (a goods-only lift is built to EN 81-31, one carrying an operator to the full passenger standards, EN 81-20/50), and how the load arrives — a pallet truck needs a flush, reinforced threshold, a forklift a floor rated for its point loading.

What capacity goods lift do I need?
Size it against your heaviest routine load, not the average — and include the weight of the pallet truck or trolley, not just the goods. Our capacities run from 500 kg up to 5,000 kg, with higher ratings available. We confirm the figure at survey by looking at what you actually move.
Can people ride in a goods lift?
Only if it is built for it. A goods-only lift with no rider is built to EN 81-31; if an operator travels with the load, the lift must meet the full passenger safety standards, EN 81-20/50. Tell us how you intend to use it and we specify to the right standard — this is a safety and compliance decision, not a preference.
Can a forklift drive into the car?
It can, if the lift is designed for it. The car floor has to be rated for the forklift’s point loading, not just its total weight, and the threshold and doors sized for it to drive straight in. Tell us the forklift model at survey and we specify the floor accordingly.
What's the difference between a goods lift and a dumbwaiter?
Scale. A goods lift carries pallets, cages and heavy stock — hundreds to thousands of kilograms. A dumbwaiter is a small service lift for trays, files and light stock, typically well under 300 kg. If a person or a pallet truck needs to get in, you need a goods lift.
How long does installation take?
It depends on capacity and travel. Units are built to order, so the manufacturing lead time is usually the larger part of the schedule; on site, installation is planned around your operation to keep it running. We confirm a firm schedule after the survey.
